"An Island In the Sun" is a portrait series in which the photos aim to capture the essence of the summertime through portraits. A feeling which since an adolescent I've always found to be particularly fleeting. It is shot on 35mm film that expired almost 20 years ago.
A series about youth; and how it, along with the memories of it fade from the mind and end up being replaced with more recent experiences. Never to be remembered in the same fashion again. Shot on 35mm film
# We're 1
The resulting effect from years of racism and seeing dark colored skin always portrayed as something negative is self-hate. There is a phenomenon that has been going around the internet for the past few years called Team Dark Skin and Team Light Skin. Based on the darkness of their skin, Black people began to draw further divides between each other by using the hashtag #Teamdarkskin and #Teamlightskin. People even began creating their own preconceived notions about how someone would act just because of the shade of their skin. This has to stop if we are ever going to progress as a people. There is strength in unity, we are on the same team. We Are One People.
